US Donates e-Learning Multimedia Laboratory To Nasarawa Poly

A United States’ tertiary institution, the University of Southern California, Institute for Creative Technologies, has donated an e-learning multimedia laboratory to the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday and signed by the institution’s public relations officer, Mal. Yakubu Salisu.

The rector, Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Prof Shettima Saidu, in his speech, stressed that the importance of e-learning multimedia laboratory cannot be over emphasised as when compared to the traditional mode of classroom learning, and that there is clear evidence that e-learning brings what learners want, really, provide faster delivery at lower costs, more effective learning and lower environmental impact.
He said that a key benefit to getting your learning online and multi-device is that it ensures you are in sync with modern learners – delivering the type of content they want, when they want it. Get learners on-side, and you’re more likely to get the results you need.
Saidu stated that there was urgent need for the nation to imbibe the culture blended learning mode in the nation’s reaching and learning process.
In addition, he said that the programme will run concurrently with the Higher National Diploma (HND) and at the end, successful students will be awarded both HND and Degree certificates.
Earlier in his speech, Prof Victor Mbarika, Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies encouraged and highlighted the benefits of e-learning as well as distance study centre, saying that the whole idea of the commissioning is to teach students even from their homes without being in the class room.
He added that the centre will enlightened the students on the good use of ICT.
