Your Comments could instigate religious war: Tanko Slams David Mark

Elder statesman Alhaji Tanko Yakasai
yesterday dismissed comments by Senate President David Mark that the Boko Haram sect insurgency could break the country or instigate religious war.
Mark was quoted as warning during the opening of a three-day retreat for Senators in Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom
State capital that Nigeria may break-up if the wanton killings and destruction perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect were not checked. But reacting on the comment in Kano, Yakasai said
with such remark from Mark, he had demonstrated that he was not fit to hold office as Senate President. He described Mark's remark as reckless and ill-conceived, adding that he should resign his office immediately. Yakasai said: "The Boko Haram insurgency is only affecting 18 of the over 700 local government areas in Nigeria. I can say 700 are free from these disturbances. Therefore, the statement credited to Mark is a betrayal of his lack of grasp of the actual situation in the country. Majority of Nigerians are going about their usual businesses without any hindrance."By virtue of the position of the Senate President, he should not have made such unguarded statement, I expected him to be more matured be-cause of his age and position."For a man who is occupying the number three position in Nigeria, this is a reckless statement, ill-conceived, childish and immature. As a retired General in any country, he is capable of rising to the highest level of any military position."One would have expected that there should be enough maturity from that person. There is a saying that a fool at 40 is a fool forever. If a man who has reached the age of 60 and above will speak like a fool, what that man is telling the whole world is that he has been a fool for over 20 years, which means that all the positions he held when he was above 40 years were held erroneously and he was not fit to occupy those positions.
